Erin McGrathspeech pathologist
With over 15 years’ experience working in the disability sector in Australia and overseas, I have acquired a great depth understanding of the sector and how to provide tailored supports for my clients.
I thoroughly enjoy working in this sector and have a passion to make a difference. Whether I am working with an 18 month old baby, 12 year old boy or a 40 year old woman I am fascinated how communication is the key to enjoying life.
My approach is tailored and customised for people of all ages with complex communication needs. I can work with a variety of therapeutic approaches including augmentative and alternative communication. Also I also can provide specialised assessment and support for people with eating and drinking difficulties. My goal is to nurture, and I get great joy when I help people to communicate, try a new food, learn new things and enjoy the day with a smile.
The recent NDIS roll out and ongoing implementation, presents an opportunity to do things differently and together we can make life a little better. Independence and being able to communicate with loved ones are essential needs of us all.
Collaboration in this sector with carers and support is very important to ensure services are individualised and provided to an exceptionally high standard. Together we can provide a seamless service to ensure our clients experience and care is prioritised. A joint mealtime plan with a dietitian or knowing that an occupational therapist will set up the communication device are key elements in our ability to deliver great care.
I pride myself on trying to be an active listener and in my private time I love to read, dance, practice yoga, and cooking and spending time with my family.
